My cookies pictured here are all dressed up in red white and blue for the summer holidays, but the beauty of M&M’s is that you can use any color of the rainbow!

I personally believe that the perfect cookie is soft and chewy. The edges of the cookie are just a little crisp, they have soft centers, and just the right amount of chew. These cookies fit the bill perfectly! These jumbo cookies are about the size of the palm of your hand so they feel like an extra special treat! Pour yourself a glass of milk and enjoy! These will quickly become your favorite chocolate chip cookies!

Here’s what goes into these cookies-

These huge cookies are made with pretty basic ingredients. I love that at almost any time I have the supplies in my pantry to whip up a batch! Here’s what you’ll need and a few notes for success!

All Purpose Flour

Baking Powder

Baking Soda

Salt

White Sugar

Brown Sugar

Butter- I usually use unsalted butter but salted will work fine too. Make sure it is softened. You can also substitute margarine if you’d like but it may change the texture of the cookies a bit.

Egg- a large egg is best, room temperature

Vanilla

Mini Chocolate Chips- I prefer to use mini semisweet chocolate chips for these cookies, I like how they evenly distribute throughout the cookies. You can use regular size chocolate chips in semi sweet or milk chocolate if that is your preference.

M&M Candies– See variations below for other M&M ideas

Here’s how to make these cookies-

First you will want to preheat your oven to 375 and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a medium size bowl combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix them with a whisk to help incorporate them well and make the flour nice and fluffy.

In a separate large mixing bowl cream butter with the white and brown sugar on medium-high speed until light and fluffy. I like to use the paddle attachment of my kitchen aid stand mixer because this dough gets pretty thick.

Add in the egg and vanilla and continue mixing until well incorporated.

Now add in the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients a little at a time, mixing in between each addition until all of the flour mixture is incorporated.

Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed, then fold in the M&M’s until they are well mixed too.

Now to make these cookies nice an big we’re going to scoop 2 Tbsp of dough at a time onto the prepared baking sheet. I like to use an ice cream scoop to create nice big dough balls and have them all be uniformly sized. Make sure to leave 2-3 inches between each dough scoop to leave the cookies room to grow the dough spreads quite a bit.

Once you are done scooping your dough onto your baking sheet you can press additional M&M’s into the top of the cookies to decorate them and make them more colorful!

Let the cookies bake for 10-15 minutes or until they are golden brown around the edges.

Allow to cool for 2-3 minutes on the baking sheet before removing to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Variations you can make-

While these cookies are perfect the way they are you can get creative with them and create different combinations!

Use different M&M’s – If you want you can use peanut butter, hazelnut or any other filled M&M’s I don’t recommend using peanut M&M’s because they are a little too large and hard. You can also use mini M&M’s if you’d like!

Use different chips– This recipe calls for chocolate chips but you can also use white chocolate chips , peanut butter chips, or even butterscotch chips!

Make ice cream sandwiches- These jumbo cookies are perfect for turning into a summer treat. Place a scoop of vanilla ice cream in between 2 of these cookies and create a delicious ice cream sandwich! Bonus- roll the edges in mini M&M’s for more chocolate flavor! Or use colorful sprinkles for a festive appearance for holidays of parties!

How to store these cookies-

Store cooled cookies in an air tight container or zip top baggie. If you are going to store them for a few days you can place a piece of bread in with them to help keep them soft and chewy!
