Welcome!! Glad to have you here, sit down, have a cup of coffee, let’s get to know each other!

Hi, I’m Krista!

Welcome to my “Far From Normal” corner of the internet!

I did some math recently. I was curious about how many dinners I’ve cooked in my 26 years of being a wife and mother. I figured we eat out about once a month so 365-12, that’s 353 days a year I cook. Times that by 26 and you get 9,178! Add in all the breakfasts, cookies, cakes, and lunches I’ve made over the years I figure I’m at well over 10,000 meals cooked!

Whew! That’s a lot.

So, when I say that I understand what it is like to get dinner on the table each and every night believe me I understand!

I started off my “culinary journey” with things like tater tots, frozen pizza, and hamburger helper. Over the years I’ve learned to cook, what spices work well together, and how to make meals that are quick, easy and delicious!

In my house we’ve got some dietary restrictions, my middle son and I follow a low-carb diet and my oldest eats soy, gluten and dairy free. So in addition to learning how to cook I’ve also learned to plan meals like a pro so that getting dinner on the table each and every night isn’t overwhelming.

I firmly believe that feeding the people we love is a great way to show them how much we care. If you visit my house I’ll probably try to feed you something and if you’re here for a holiday bring leftover containers!

I’m totally self taught, I’ve learned from my mistakes, and enjoy the experience. So if you’re looking for a homemaking blog of a mom who seems to have it all together, has pretty printed schedule sheets, a perfect house, and dinner that never comes out of the oven to the sound of the smoke alarm… I’m sorry you are in the wrong place. If you’re looking for honesty, every day humor, and someone who is just doing their best and learning as they go I’m your girl!!
