Tips & FAQ for these fun Halloween Cookies-
Use gel food coloring- To get the vibrant colors for these cookies you’ll want to use gel food coloring. With gel you don’t have to use as much as you do with liquid food coloring. Just a few drops of the gel food coloring will result in fun bright colors.
Try a different flavor – These cookies are made with vanilla extract but you can easily use a different flavor of extract. One of my favorites is almond, but you could even try orange or lemon!
Swap out the white chocolate chips- If you prefer you can easily swap out the white chocolate chips for milk chocolate or semi sweet chocolate to make these chocolate chip cookies. Another fun addition to these cookies is colorful m&ms, the “ghoul mix” comes in green orange and purple so they are perfect for these cookies!
How to store these cookies- These easy Hocus Pocus cookies can easily be made ahead of your movie night and stored in an airtight container.
Do I have to use cake flour? This recipe calls for cake flour which results in light fluffy sugar cookies however if you don’t have any you can just swap it out for all purpose flour.
Here’s what you’ll need for these Hocus Pocus Cookies-
1 1⁄2 Cup Butter – softened
2 Cups White Sugar
3 Large Eggs
3 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 1⁄2 tsp Cornstarch
1 1⁄2 tsp Baking Soda
3⁄4 tsp Salt
2 cups Cake flour
2 1⁄2 cups All-Purpose Flour
Orange, Neon Green and Purple Gel Food Coloring
2 cups white chocolate chips
Halloween Sprinkles
Here’s how to make these fun cookies –
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment or in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer cream the butter and sugar, mix on high until light and fluffy.
Add in the eggs one at a time mixing after each addition until all of the eggs have been incorporated.
Add the vanilla extract and continue to mix until blended.
In a separate large bowl add the flour, cake flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt, whisk together to combine.
Slowly begin to add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients one cup at a time, mixing on medium speed after each addition. Continue until all of the dry ingredients have been incorporated.
Divide the dough into 3 equal parts and place each in a different bowl. Add green food coloring to one, orange to the second, and purple to the third. Knead until the food coloring is incorporated into the dough and the color is even throughout.
Place the white chocolate chips in a bowl and the Halloween sprinkles in a shallow dish.
Using a cookie scoop or spoon scoop out about 2 teaspoons of each color dough and roll into separate balls. Then gently push them together so that they stick but the colors don’t blend.
Roll the combine dough into a ball and slightly flatten. Roll the edges in the Halloween sprinkles.
Place the dough balls on your prepared cookie sheet and gently press white chocolate chips into the top and sides of the cookie dough.
Continue until all of the dough has been formed into cookies.
Place the try of cookies in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
Place chilled cookies on a parchment lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
Bake cookies for 12-14 minutes.
Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly on the cookie sheet then transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
Store in an airtight container.

What can I use instead of cake flour?

You can replace the cake flour with all purpose flour. The cookies will just be a bit more dense.
