How to store these truffles-

These truffles store well refrigerated in an airtight container. They are great for making ahead for holiday parties or gifting.

Flavor Variations-

These truffles are simple and delicious and you can easily make a ton of variations with just a few changes.

Use a different flavor cake mix– If you prefer to make chocolate truffles, red velvet or even carrot you can! Just use your favorite flavor cake mix to create the truffles of your choice. Different flavors will obviously be different colors so they will look different and you may want to choose sprinkles that compliment the colors.

Add Extract– If you are using a white or vanilla cake mix you can make sugar cookie truffles by adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract or almond extract. If you prefer a peppermint flavor you can add 1/2 – 1 tsp of peppermint extract.

If you’re making chocolate truffles you can add hazelnut extract for a Nutella like flavor, orange for a delicious chocolate orange flavor or peppermint to make chocolate mint truffles.

Add ins– You can add some mix ins to these little truffles to add flavor and give them some crunch. Add mini dehydrated marshmallows to create hot chocolate truffles, add in mini chocolate chips for cookie dough truffles, or add in white chocolate chips for white chocolate truffles. You can also add in chopped nuts or sprinkles!

Cover them in chocolate- If you want chocolate covered truffles you use this recipe. After you form the truffle mixture into balls you’ll want to freeze them for at least 2 hours so they are frozen solid. Then melt chocolate or candy melts in a double boiler and dip your frozen truffles.

Drizzle them with chocolate– These truffles are rolled in sugar or sprinkles but you can also drizzle them with melted chocolate. You can melt chocolate chips or candy melts and drizzle it over your finished truffles. You can add sprinkles to the top for an festive treat!

Ingredients Needed for Easy Christmas Truffles

8 oz Full-Fat Cream Cheese (softened)

1 Box White Cake Mix

Sprinkles or Sanding Sugar

Here’s How to Make these Easy Truffles

First place the dry cake mix in a large microwave safe mixing bowl.  Place in microwave and heat in 30 second increments stirring between each for about 1 ½ minutes or until temperature is 160. This is precautionary because eating raw flour is not advised.

In a large bowl with an electric mixer or the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment mix cream cheese until smooth and creamy.

Gradually add in the dry cake mix, mixing after each addition until it is all incorporated.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or foil and place in the refrigerator for at least an hour.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place sprinkles or sanding sugar in a shallow dish or bowl.

Using a cookie scoop or measuring spoon scoop out the dough in 1 tablespoon scoops.

Roll in sprinkles and place on the prepared cookie sheet.

Repeat until all of the dough has been rolled into balls and covered with sprinkles.

Refrigerate until ready to serve.  Store refrigerated in an airtight container.
