No party is complete without a cheese ball! This dried beef cheese ball is easy to make and perfect with crackers and veggies! Perfect for any gathering!
I’ve had a thing recently with traditional recipes.
I’ve been perusing old cookbooks, looking through my Grandma’s recipe box, and discovering delicious old fashioned recipes that everybody used to make.
I’m finding there is a very good reason these recipes were super popular. Things like pistachio salad, and spinach dip, that are full of flavor and so simple for the home cook.
Even back in my Grandma’s day moms were looking for delicious dishes that their guests and their families would love. There was no need to be fancy and always a place for cool whip, cream cheese, and jello… don’t worry there isn’t jello in this recipe!
This dried beef cheese ball falls in with those classic recipes. It is one that only has a handful of ingredients and the end result just tastes like snacking at Grandma’s house before Christmas dinner.
So as a note before we get to the recipe. This cheese ball calls for horseradish. Since that is not something I use frequently I had to buy some to make this… I spent like 20 minutes searching the grocery store for it.
So to save you the time I thought I’d share that you can find it in the aisle near the mustard… or on Amazon, that’s probably easier.
Here’s what you’ll need for this Dried Beef Cheese Ball
1- 8 oz. brick of Cream Cheese (softened)
5 oz. Jar of Dried beef
1/2 – Cup Finely Chopped Green onion (about 6)
2- Tbsp. Horseradish
Finely chop your dried beef, dice it as small as you can.
Set aside about 2 Tbsp of dried beef, and chopped green onion to roll your finished cheese ball in.
Now mix your horseradish, dried beef, and green onions in with your softened cream cheese until everything is well incorporated.
Roll the mixture into a ball, you can use your hands or put the mixture in plastic wrap and use it to create the ball.
Now mix your reserved beef and onions in a bowl and then roll your cheese ball in the mixture pressing the beef and onions into the sides so they stick.
Cover and refrigerate for about 15 minutes, serve with crackers, bread or chopped veggies!
