Is it safe to eat uncooked brownie mix?

Food safety is always important and these treats are no bake you might be worried if it is ok to eat! The short answer is yes! Before making these truffles you’ll be microwaving the brownie mix, this heats the flour enough to “cook” it making it perfectly safe to eat.

Can I dip these in chocolate?

You may look at these truffles and think they would be perfect dipped in chocolate or colored candy melts! If you want chocolate covered brownie truffles you can absolutely give these a dunk in melted chocolate! You’ll want to freeze them first to make sure they are nice and firm (about 30 minutes) Then use candy melts to dip them in any color you’d like!

Here’s what you’ll need for these Brownie Truffles-

19 oz (13×9 in pan size) Brownie Mix-

These are usually labeled as “Family Size” get your favorite brand, but avoid the mixes with any added chocolate chips, chocolate chunks or nuts.

2 Tbsp Chocolate Syrup-

You’ll want to use sweetened chocolate syrup. Any brand works!

2 Tbsp Corn Syrup-

Clear corn syrup helps hold these all together and add some sweetness.

¼ Cup Water

1 Cup- Valentine’s Sprinkles-

You can use any sprinkles you’d like, I like to use a variety to make lots of different colors and textures!

Here’s how to make these Valentine’s Brownie Truffles-

First, place your brownie mix in a large microwave safe bowl.

Place the bowl in the microwave and heat in 30 second increments for about 1 1/2 minutes stirring between each.

If you have an instant read thermometer you’ll want it to read 160.

Remove the bowl from the microwave and add in the chocolate syrup, corn syrup, and water.

Mix thoroughly until all the ingredients are well incorporated. The texture should be like a soft cookie dough.

Place your sprinkles in a shallow dish. You can work with one color at a time or set up several dishes at once.

Scoop out the brownie mixture in 1 tablespoon scoops, and roll it into a ball. Slightly dampening your hands helps keep the mixture from sticking.

Place the ball in the sprinkles and roll it, pressing gently until it is evenly coated with sprinkles.

Place on a plate or baking sheet. Repeat until all the mixture has been rolled into truffles.

Refrigerate for one hour before serving.

These are best kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Take them out about 10-15 minutes before serving for the best texture!
