FAQ & TIPS for making these Grinch Treats

Do I have to use two colors of chocolates?

For these delicious Grinch treats I wanted to get the perfect shade of bright green chocolate. To do that I mixed two shades of green. However if you only have one color of green chocolates that will work just fine!

Can I make the treats green?

If you want even more grinch-y green color you can put a few drops of green food coloring in your marshmallow mixture so that the entirety of the treats are green. I like to use gel food coloring because it is a more vibrant color. Just add a little at a time until the rice krispie mixture is the desired shade of green.

To get the perfect candy melt consistency-

Candy melts are perfect for decorating these homemade rice krispie treats. However sometimes they can be a little hard to drizzle because they’re thick when they melt. So to thing the chocolate you can add shortening or coconut oil a teaspoon at a time until the best consistency is reached. Don’t ever add water to thin the chocolates!

Make them heart shaped-

In the story of the Grinch his small heart grew three sizes that day so making heart shaped treats is the perfect fit! To to that you can make the recipe as written and then use a cookie cutter to cut out hearts. Or you can press the mixture directly into the cookie cutter to make individual treats. See this posts for more tips for making heart shaped treats. Then place a heart shaped candy or sprinkle on your grinch cereal treats to finish them off beautifully!
