If you are looking for a delightfully refreshing way to start your day you’ll want to try this lemon lime soap! Let the citrus fragrance wake you up while the homemade soap softens your skin.

Lemon lime soap

If you’ve hung out with me for awhile you know that I love homemade products, and I also firmly believe in the power of aromatherapy.

One of my favorite uses of essential oils is to help me feel energized. I have a couple of blends I love to diffuse when I need to get things done, and of course, I love my wake up shower melts for helping me kick start my day.

Most of my favorite energizing blends include citrus oils. They are really refreshing, stimulating and smell amazing. So I decided to make a soap that would capture those scents and have one more tool in my arsenal of get up and go!

Now, this soap calls for lemon and lime zest. The zest serves to make it pretty and also adds more fragrance to the finished product. But if you want to make this without the zest you can just use the essential oils and it will still smell delightful!

If you’re looking for essential oils here are some of my favorite places to buy affordable quality oils.

I also used a mold that requires you to cut your bars when you’re finished. But of course you can use any shape or size mold, the amount of bars that results may vary. Using this mold it will make 5-6 bars depending on how big you cut them.

Here’s what you’ll need for your lemon lime soap

  • ¾ pound melt & pour goats milk soap base
  • ½  tablespoon fresh lime zest-patted dry
  • ½ tablespoon fresh lemon zest -patted dry
  • 15 drops lemon essential oil
  • 15 drops lime essential oil
  • Silicone soap mold (this set comes with the mold and scraper)
  • Large Pyrex measuring cup
  • Wooden stir stick
  • Rubbing alcohol

First you’ll want to chop your melt & pour soap into blocks and pop it in your Pyrex measuring cup.

Now stick it in the microwave for about 30 seconds, give it a stir, if it is not fully melted pop it back in and microwave for another 10 seconds.

Once your base is melted add in your lemon and lime zest and stir until it is thoroughly mixed. You can mix it all in or save a pinch of each to sprinkle on the top of the soap.

Now drip in your essential oils and stir some more.

Once everything is well mixed you can pour it into your mold. Sprinkle on your zest if you set some aside.

If you want you can spritz it with rubbing alcohol to help prevent bubbles.

Now let your soap harden for 3-4 hours and use the scraper to cut it into 2 inch bars. You can use a smooth or the wavy one, it is completely up to you!

These soaps keep well individually wrapped or stored in an airtight container. They make a great housewarming gift, teachers gift, or a gift for anyone who will enjoy their citrus scent!
