Up-Cycled Sweater Stockings- 12 Days of Handmade Christmas
These up-cycled sweater stockings are a great way to reuse a sweater and make into a beautiful decoration or gift!!
“The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.”
I love stockings, and what better to give as a gift then a beautiful stocking, full of fun presents!?
This project takes an unused sweater, (do you have the body left from making my neckwarmer?) and turns it into something new and beautiful.
This project is fairly easy and can be put together for next to nothing, especially if you have a sweater lying around in a goodwill donation bag. I happened to have a few!
All you really need for this project is a sweater and a sewing machine. I wouldn’t really recommend hand sewing these, I don’t think it would hold well enough. Plus you’re going to be sewing before you cut to prevent fraying which is a little difficult to do by hand.
First lay out your sweater
Now if you want to add a hanger to it here’s what to do. Cut out a section of sweater about twice as long and twice as thick as you would like your hanger to be. Sew down the edges to prevent unraveling and then trim them.
Then place it where you want it on your stocking and either run it through your machine again or hand stitch it into place.
And you’re done!
These are so cute and what a great way to upcycle an old sweater.
Love this! I hope you will link this post up to the All Things Linky Christmas Party tomorrow! See you there! http://wp.me/p466oG-qA

I only know enough to be dangerous.. or frustrate myself with tangled string. But every once in awhile things go my way!
I had to take home-ec in 7th grade. It comes in handy! Thanks for stopping by
