This air fryer chickpeas recipe is the perfect healthy snack but there are also other delicious ways to enjoy them. We like to add them to snack mixes like Chex Mix, or mix them in with dried fruit and nuts for a tasty trail mix. They are also a great salad topper to add a bit of crunch and flavor!
How to store Air Fryer Chickpeas-
You can store these crispy chickpeas in an airtight container. They are fine in a zip top bag for short term storage but for longer storage I like to use a plastic container or a mason jar so that no air gets to them.

For best results with this air fryer recipe you’ll want to follow these tips. Make sure to dry the chickpeas well before you get started. When you start with dry chickpeas the seasonings stick well and they don’t take as long to roast.
When you’re using the air fryer you don’t want to overcrowd it. Make sure to spread the chickpeas out in a single layer. They can be touching but you want them to have a bit of space in between for the hot air to circulate. Your cook time may vary depending what size and type of air fryer you have. Make sure to check the chickpeas to be sure they are crispy but not overcooked.
Air Fryer Chickpea Seasoning Ideas
This recipe is one of my favorite seasoning blends for chickpeas. It is salty, smoky and savory. However, there are tons of ways to season your chickpeas for delicious results! Here are some of our favorite ideas-
Ranch- If you love the flavor of ranch you can use dry ranch dressing mix to season your chickpeas. You can also use a blend of dried parsley, dill, chives, onion powder and garlic powder to create a ranch flavor.
Old Bay– My husband and I grew up in Maryland so we are huge Old Bay fans and it makes a great seasoning for any snack including these!
Pizza- We like to use a blend of garlic powder, Italian seasoning and grated Parmesan cheese to create tasty pizza chickpeas.
Cinnamon Honey– Did I mention you can make these sweet instead of savory? After you air fry the chickpeas drizzle them with honey and sprinkle them with cinnamon and salt. The result is the perfect blend of sweet and salty.
Maple Bacon- Another twist is to create a sweet and smoky taste combination. Add smoked paprika and salt before roasting and afterword drizzle them with maple syrup and sprinkle with brown sugar.
Spicy- If you like your snacks with a kick you can make these spicy! I like to use a blend of garlic powder, cumin, chili powder and cayenne. You can also use a spicy seasoning mix like Tajin for a super tasty snack.
Everything Bagel Seasoning – This is one of our favorite seasonings and it makes a great one to season air fried chickpeas.
Ingredients for Crispy Air Fryer Chickpeas
Chickpeas– I like to use canned chickpeas because they are ready to go and super easy. If you have dried chickpeas you’ll need to cook them first, here is a great guide so they turn out perfectly.
Olive Oil- Olive oil helps the seasoning stick and helps make crispy air fryer chickpeas. If you prefer avocado oil you can use it instead.
Salt- No matter what flavoring combination you choose for your chickpeas salt is a must. It helps enhance their delicious flavor
Smoked Paprika- I love the spicy smoky flavor that smoked paprika gives these chickpeas.
Garlic Powder– We love garlic so it is a must for these chickpeas! If you aren’t a fan of garlic onion powder is another great option.
Cumin- Cumin adds a little spice that we love. If you like more simple flavors you can leave it out.
Here’s How to Make Air Fryer Chickpeas
Preheat the air fryer to 390.
Drain and rinse the chickpeas then lay them on paper towels. Use additional paper towels to pat them dry. This helps the oil and spices to stick well.
In a large bowl mix together the olive oil, salt and spices until they are well blended.
Add the chickpeas to the bowl and stir gently to coat them with the seasoning mixture.
Transfer the chickpeas to the air fryer basket and spread them into a single layer.
Air fry the chickpeas for 10-15 minutes stir the chickpeas or shake the basket every 5 minutes to make sure they cook evenly .
The chickpeas are done when they nice and dry and crunchy. I usually sample one to check, if they aren’t crispy enough continue air frying for 3-5 minutes at a time until desired crunchiness is reached.

- 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1/3 tsp Salt
- 1/3 tsp Smoked Paprika
- 1/3 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/3 tsp Cumin
