FAQ & TIPS for Crispy Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings

Cooking time may vary-

Depending on the size of your air fryer, and the size of your wings your cook time may vary. You want to have nice juicy wings with a crispy texture on the outside. So be careful not to overcook your wings. You want them to reach an internal temperature of 165 without drying them out use a meat thermometer for best results to check the temp!

Tips for cooking wings in the air fryer-

Make sure to place the chicken wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Make sure to place them in the air fryer evenly spaced so that the hot air can circulate around them properly and crisp them on all sides. For best results flip the wings over half way through cooking time so they are nice and evenly cooked.

Pat the wings dry-

For best results and nice and crispy skin pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel before seasoning and cooking them. Drying the wings helps the seasoning to stick well and the skin to crisp up beautifully!

How to store these wings-

If you have leftover wings they are best stored refrigerated in an airtight container. To reheat them you can place them back in the air fryer for about 5 minutes to heat them through or place them on a parchment lined baking sheet in the oven at 350 for about 5 minutes.

What to serve with these wings-

These crispy garlic parmesan wings are the perfect party appetizer or main dish! If you are adding them to an appetizer spread you can serve them up with other wings, chips, chopped veggies like carrots or celery sticks, and your favorite sauce selection. If you’re serving them as a side dish they are great with a side salad, or other favorite salad, french fries, tater tots or your favorite side dish.

How to butcher whole wings-

Chicken wings can be sold already cut or whole. If you purchase whole chicken wings you’ll need to butcher them a little before cooking. Chicken wings have 3 pieces, the drumette, the flat, and the wing tip. You’ll want to separate the three parts and discard the wing tips. For more details check out this post on butchering chicken wings.

Ingredient notes-

I like to make these parmesan garlic chicken wings with minced garlic. I love the convenience of it and the flavor is great. However if you prefer to use fresh garlic or garlic powder for the delicious garlic flavor you can. If you are using fresh garlic you can finely mince it or put it through a garlic press. If you are using garlic powder you’ll want to use a teaspoon.

For the parmesan cheese- You can use your favorite parmesan for this recipe and it will be delicious. Fresh parmesan that has just been grated tends to melt more and will create more of a garlic parmesan sauce on the wings. If you use the grated kind in the jar the parmesan won’t melt as much and will create more of a crispy bread crumb like parmesan coating on the air fryer wings.
