Tips & FAQ for making biscuits in the air fryer
Cooking time may vary-
Air fryers can vary in style and size and those factors can effect how quickly your biscuits cook. You may need to adjust the time so that you get fluffy biscuits that are not undercooked or overcooked. You can check them half way through cooking or cook a test biscuit first to see what the best time is for your air fryer.
Do I need to flip the biscuits?
Depending on what style air fryer you have you may want to flip the biscuits half way through the cooking process. If you have a toaster oven style air fryer and the air circulates underneath them you probably don’t need to flip them. If you have a basket style air fryer you may want to turn them to make sure they are golden brown on both sides.
Leave room between the biscuits-
When you place the biscuits in the air fryer basket make sure they are in a single layer with a couple of inches between them. This leaves plenty of room for the hot air to circulate around them and make sure they cook evenly. Depending on the size of your air fryer you may need to make your biscuit in 2 or 3 batches.
Can I make smaller biscuits in the air fryer?
Absolutely! I like to use Pillsbury grands biscuits because they are so buttery and flaky, however if you have a different brand of biscuit or prefer smaller biscuits you can also make them in the air fryer. The smaller sized biscuits, whether flaky or southern style, have shown to be cooked best at 330°F for six to seven minutes, with a halfway turn for even cooking. If cooking larger biscuits, they may need to be air fried for 9-10 minutes instead. It’s important to check the biscuits, regardless of their size, to ensure they come out perfectly golden and crispy on top.
Can I line the air fryer with parchment paper?
In order to make cleanup after air frying biscuits easier, adding parchment paper is a great solution. Not only does it prevent the biscuits from sticking to the air fryer, but it also adds a nice browning effect. When using parchment paper in the air fryer, it’s important to use perforated parchment paper to ensure proper airflow. The best thing to use is liners made for the air fryer so that you get plenty of circulating air flow and easy clean up!
How to store these air fryer biscuits-
You can keep any leftover biscuits in an airtight container for 2-3 days. To store them longer you can place them in the refrigerator. To reheat biscuits you can microwave them wrapped in a paper towel for about 30 seconds or place them in the air fryer at 330 degrees for 2-3 minutes.
Serving suggestions-
You can dress these easy air fryer biscuits easily to make them even more delicious. I like to brush them with melted butter while the biscuits are still warm. In addition to butter you can sprinkle the biscuits with garlic powder, parmesan cheese, herbs or other seasonings.
