Chicken Teriyaki Burgers are a delicious twist on a classic burger. The teriyaki flavors are sweet and savory and compliment the chicken beautifully! These burgers are full of flavor and are perfect for a summer barbecue or a weeknight dinner.

This simple recipe is great for a busy weeknight or for whipping up for a cookout or barbeque! We love to throw them on the grill during the summer and top them with grilled pineapple rings! They are delicious served up with a simple side like Asian Broccoli or sesame roasted asparagus for an easy dinner full of Asian flavors!

Tips & FAQ for making Chicken Teriyaki Burgers

Toppings for these burgers- These burgers are full of flavor and delicious on their own but they are also the perfect vehicle for a variety of toppings! We love to top ours with grilled pineapple slices, and serve them on toasted buns. You can top them with a little extra teriyaki sauce for even more flavor! They are also great with classic toppings like shredded lettuce, red onion, and mayo! For a little spice you can top them with sriracha sauce or a spicy Asian sauce instead of sweet teriyaki.

What to serve with teriyaki chicken burgers– These burgers make a great main dish or flavorful lunch, and are perfect to serve with all your favorite side dishes. We love to serve them with a side salad, steamed vegetables or coleslaw. They are also tasty with traditional burger sides like onion rings or French fries!

Can I use ground turkey? Absolutely! If you can’t find ground chicken or prefer turkey you can swap out the ground chicken for ground turkey in this burger recipe. Ground turkey tends to have a bit more fat than ground chicken so they’ll be a bit more moist. You can add a bit more panko bread crumbs if the mixture is too soft when it is mixed.

Tips for grilling these burgers- You can cook these burgers in a hot pan or skillet but they are also delicious cooked on the grill. You’ll want to preheat the grill to medium heat or medium high. Brush your grill with oil so that the chicken doesn’t stick. You can also line your grill with aluminum foil. Place the burger patties on the grill and cook for 5 minutes on the first side and then flip and continue to grill the burgers for another 5 minutes or until the internal temperature is 165.

How to store these burgers- This teriyaki chicken burgers recipe is great for making ahead of time to have on hand for quick lunches or dinners. Once the burgers are cooked they can be cooled and stored refrigerated in an airtight container for 2-3 days. I like to make a double batch so that we can have them for dinner and also have leftovers.

Here’s what you’ll need for these teriyaki chicken burgers –

1- Lb Ground Chicken

1/2 Cup Panko Bread Crumbs

3 Green Onions – sliced

1 Egg

1/4 Cup Chopped Fresh Cilantro

1 Tbsp Ginger Paste

3 Cloves Garlic- minced

3 Tbsp Soy Sauce

1 Tbsp Brown Sugar

1 Tbsp Sesame Oil

Olive oil or cooking oil of choice

Here’s how to make these teriyaki chicken burgers

In a large bowl stir together the egg and panko bread crumbs.

Combine the ground chicken, sliced green onions and chopped cilantro.

In a small bowl whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger and garlic.

Pour the mixture over the ground chicken mixture and stir until everything is well combined.

Cover and chill the mixture for at least 30 minutes.

When you are ready to cook remove the chicken mixture from the fridge and form the chicken mixture into 4 patties.

Heat your olive oil or other cooking oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the burgers in the pan and cook for about 5 minutes per side. Make sure to cook them to an internal temperature of 165 degrees f. I like to check mine with a meat thermometer.

Serve while warm with your favorite toppings and buns.
