FAQ & Tips for Success

Can I use a premade crust for this peanut butter pie?

Absolutely! The Nutter Butter crust is amazing but if you are pressed for time or want something to make this recipe quicker and easier you can easily grab a prepared graham cracker crust. You could even use a chocolate cookie crust, or oreo cookie crust if you want to add some chocolate flavor into your pie! If you like a traditional pie crust for a more old-fashioned peanut butter pie you can use a from scratch one or a store bought one, just pre-bake it before filling!

What other swaps can I make?

There is a lot of variety you can add to this pie beyond just the crust. This recipe calls for cool whip but if you want to use homemade whipped cream that would add a delicious creaminess. You can also swap the chopped peanuts for chopped heath bars, Reese’s peanut butter cups, chocolate chips or peanut butter chips. You can add a chocolate drizzle over the top or even a strawberry one for a peanut butter and jelly flavor!

There are no rules as to how to dress up this peanut butter pie so you can add whatever toppings sound good to you! You could even do a toppings bar if you are serving it for a party!

Can I use natural peanut butter?

Yes! You will want to use smooth peanut butter no matter which kind you use. If you use natural pb you’ll need to make sure it is well mixed before using, and you may need to use a little bit more milk (2-3 Tbsp) to get the desired consistency of the pie filling

Make sure to plan ahead a little because it does need to freeze!

Here’s how to make this No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

For the crust-

About 23 Nutter Butter Cookies

6 Tbsp of Butter (melted)

For the filling –

1/2 Cup of Milk
1- Cup Powdered Sugar
3/4 Cup Creamy PB
4 oz Cream Cheese

For the topping-

1/4 Cup Peanuts Chopped

First we’re going to make the crust. You’ll need to crush the Nutter Butter cookies into crumbs. You can use a food processor or place them in a zippered baggie and crush them using a rolling pin. Crush them into crumbs making sure there aren’t any large chunks.

Then mix together the cookie crumbs with melted butter and press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie plate.

Place the pie pan in the freezer while you work on the filling. (At least 15 minutes so it will harden)

Now we’re going to make the filling. Cream together the room temperature cream cheese and peanut butter in a large mixing bowl using an electric hand mixer, or the whisk attachment of a stand mixer until nice and smooth. Next mix in the powdered sugar and milk on medium high speed a little at a time alternating until it is all nicely incorporated, scraping the sides with a rubber spatula until filling is light and fluffy.

Now smooth the peanut butter mixture into your prepared crust then spread the whipped topping across the peanut butter mixture. The last thing to do is sprinkle the top of the pie with chopped peanuts.

Now cover it and pop it into the freezer for about 3 hours (or overnight if you are making it ahead)

Remove it from the freezer about 20-30 minutes before you are ready to serve so it can soften to make cutting and eating easier!
