With 3 sons I’m no stranger to a big grocery budget! Over the years I’ve found various ways to cut down on our food bill, coupons, buying in bulk, shopping sales etc. But one of the simplest ways to save money on your groceries is to pick meals that aren’t full of expensive ingredients!

I think a lot of people know to stretch their budget it is wise to reach for things like beans, rice, cheaper cuts of meat, etc. But often it can be hard to come up with new and delicious ways of combining things to create meals that your family loves!

So I’ve complied this huge list of a great variety of different recipes that are inexpensive to make but aren’t boring! These recipes can feed a family for around $10 or under!

Before we get to the list I wanted to share some of my favorite easy tips for stretching your dollar at meal time!

1- Make ground beef (or chicken) go further-

In my family we love tacos, pasta with meat sauce etc. So I often add to the ground meat to make more! You can easily mix in cooked rice, quinoa or lentils with ground beef or chicken to add bulk. The grains will take on the same flavors as the ground meat and you can easily double the volume for very little cost!

2- Go Meatless-

Meat is a huge expense so serving a meatless meal once or twice a week can really help cut your budget. There are several vegetarian options on this list, but don’t let them fool you, vegetarian dishes can be just as tasty and hearty as meat dishes but at a fraction of the cost.

3- Use leftovers-

Pay attention to food waste in your house! Plan a leftover night or repurpose leftovers like chicken into soup or stews. You can often use up meat and produce and create something delicious with food that might have otherwise ended up in the trash!

4- Plan Ahead-

Meal planning is a huge time saver and money saver! No need to run out for ingredients for dinner if you’ve already planned ahead and purchased what you need! Want to know a super simple way to meal plan that I love? Use Pinterest! Find out how I do it in this post.
