Orange and creamy vanilla is a classic summer pairing. This Orange Creamsicle Dessert Lasagna captures all the taste of creamsicles (or dreamsicles) in an easy to make no-bake dessert that everyone is sure to love!
I am a huge fan of no-bake desserts, especially in the summer. They are easy to whip up and don’t heat up the kitchen. My Summer Berry Dessert Ice Box Cake, my Peanut Butter Pie and my Pumpkin Pie Dessert Lasagna are some of my favorites you might want to check out after you try this one!
I love dessert.
I have seriously never met a dessert I don’t like (except maybe angel food cake, it is too eggy for me) but when it starts to get hot outside baking is not something that I want to do.
So I love a no-bake dessert. Whether you call them a dessert lasagna, lush, icebox cake or something completely different (is it a regional thing?) when you combine the taste of delicious cookies, creamy filling, fruity goodness and whipped topping you are bound to get something delicious.
With this no bake dessert I took a favorite summer flavor combination of orange and vanilla creamsicles (or dreamsicles… is that one regional too?) and created this layered concoction that is perfect for any picnic, party, or weeknight treat!
This does need to chill for several hours before serving so make sure you plan ahead! If you are taking this to a party you also may want to take along a couple of copies of the recipe, or jot down this site address because people are sure to ask you for the recipe! (I made this for the 4th and had 3 people ask me!)
Another note- The crust for this is made with Vanilla Wafers, if you need to swap them out you can use graham crackers or crushed sugar cookies. As long as it can be made into crumbs and would taste good with orange it should work!
Here’s how you make this Orange Creamsicle Dessert Lasagna-
For the Crust-
About 50 Vanilla Wafer Cookies
6 Tbsp. Butter (melted)
For the Filling-
2 Boxes of Orange Gelatin
2 Boxes of Instant Vanilla Pudding
2- 8oz Bricks of Cream Cheese (softened)
2 1/2 – Cups Milk
1 – Cup Powdered Sugar
1/3 – Cup Orange Juice
1 – Container Cool Whip topping (thawed)
Mandarin Oranges for garnish
First, we’re going to make the crust. You’ll need to turn your Vanilla Wafers into crumbs. You can use a food processor or place them in a baggie and crush them with a rolling pin or mallet.
Combine the cookie crumbs with the melted butter, mix thoroughly, and then press the mixture into the bottom of a 13×9 inch pan.
Place the pan in the freezer to firm up a bit while you make the filling.
In either the microwave or on a stove top bring your orange juice to a boil. Add in your orange gelatin and stir until it is dissolved, set aside until cool.
Now in a large bowl combine your milk and vanilla pudding and mix throughly. Add in the orange juice and gelatin mixture and whisk them together. This mixture is a bit of an odd consistency, don’t be alarmed it will be ok!
Now with an electric mixer combine your softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar and mix until well incorporated.
Remove your crust from the freezer and spread the cream cheese mixture evenly across the bottom. Then layer your orange gelatin/pudding mixture evenly over that. Finally spread your container of cool whip evenly across the top.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 5 hours. Garnish with mandarin oranges before serving (you can use as many or as few as desired)
