The ingredients for chicken bacon ranch pinwheels. Tortillas, cream cheese, green onions, bacon pieces, chicken pieces, shredded cheddar cheese and ranch dressing mix.

Chicken– For these pinwheels you’ll need cooked chicken that is diced into small pieces. You can use rotisserie chicken, leftover chicken or even canned chicken for this recipe. For a super quick option you can buy pre shredded rotisserie chicken in the deli section of your grocery store.

Cream Cheese– Cream cheese is the base for the creamy filling for these pinwheels. You’ll want to make sure it is softened to room temperature before you get started to make mixing easy.

Sour Cream– I like to use full fat sour cream for this recipe because it is nice and thick and that helps keep the filling in place. If you use low fat just be aware your filling may be looser and the pinwheels won’t hold their structure as well.

Shredded Cheese – I like to use sharp cheddar cheese for my pinwheels but you can use any cheese you like! Pepper jack is a great choice if you want to add a little spice. Pre-shredded cheese makes these super quick to make.

Bacon – Crispy bacon pieces help give this these their addictive flavor! You can use pre-made bacon bits or cook up your favorite bacon and crumble it. Pre cooked bacon is a great short cut that makes this even easier.

Green Onions – These add a nice bright flavor to the pinwheels. You want to finely dice them so that you get a little flavor in each bite.

Tortillas – You’ll need large flour tortillas for this recipe – labeled as “burrito size” with an 8-10 inch diameter. If you have smaller tortillas you can use them you’ll just need to divide the filling mixture up between them. You can also use low carb or gluten free tortillas if you have dietary restrictions.

Ranch Dressing Mix– This gives a ton of flavor to the savory filling mixture. You can use your favorite store bought mix or homemade if you prefer.

Can these be made ahead of time?

One of the things that makes these the perfect party appetizer is because you can have them in the fridge ready to go while you make other dishes. They can be assembled and in the fridge for 1-2 days before slicing and serving. After cutting keep them in an airtight container in the fridge.

Use a different meat-

These are great made with chicken but you can swap it out for turkey (they are a great way to use leftovers) or finely diced ham. Or you can double the savory bacon pieces for more bacon flavor.

Make flavor variations-

Instead of ranch dressing mix you can use a different dressing mix, dip mix or seasoning blend. Italian dressing mix, garlic and herb, or fiesta ranch are all delicious options. Or you can blend together your favorite spices or use a premade dip mix.

Add veggies-

To add some additional flavor and texture to this chicken pinwheel recipe you can add some chopped veggies. Chopped bell peppers, shredded carrots or chopped fresh spinach all make great additions.
