Welcome to My World
Welcome!! Glad to have you here, sit down, have a cup of coffee, let’s get to know each other!
I’m Krista, I’ll start there. I live in a small town, in a big house, and my life is full of…well LIFE! I have a wonderful husband, who is anything but boring (we’ll get to that later, believe me I’ve got stories). I am the mother to 3 boys, 5, 11 and 15 who I home school, because sanity is totally overrated, mostly because that’s what works best for my family. I also share my home with 2 dogs, a cat, 2 mice, a lizard, a frog, a turtle, some fish, and whatever other critters my 11-year old has gotten his hands on. There are also 4 chickens and 4 ducks who live here (although they are outside) who lay us fresh eggs every day!
Why do I say we’re not normal? Did you read that intro? Wait there’s more!
Normal– conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected
I actually started another blog a couple of years ago, one where I was determined to try and change myself, to put myself in the little box of a “normal” mom, I thought I wanted to be what other people appear to be…normal… status-quo…keeping up with the Joneses… etc. That, however is not who I am. I have always prided myself on being a “color outside the lines” kind of person, and mother. My life has not been conventional, and frankly I don’t want it to be. It took me awhile to realize that, and that I’d rather share my life as who I’m happy to be, than as who I’m trying to force myself to be.
I am a thinker, a reader, a gardener. I love to cook, and much to the dismay of the 4 men who live with me I have no problem using them as guinea pigs introducing them to new recipes. I teach an art class for the home school co-op we’re involved in, and I love all things creative.
I have been known on occasion to use foul language, (if you know me well and are laughing as you read this… play along!) and my dear husband is nothing if not irreverent and politically incorrect. So if you are easily offended I apologize in advance, just censor those words in your mind, I promise you’ll enjoy everything else!
I claim to be an expert in absolutely nothing. For the most part I’m a try-it-yourself-er (not so much the DO- it-yourself-er, that would imply knowing what you are doing) I’m willing to give it a go, learn from my mistakes, and enjoy the experience. So if you’re looking for a homemaking blog of a mom who seems to have it all together, has pretty printed schedule sheets, a perfect house, and dinner that never comes out of the oven to the sound of the smoke alarm… I’m sorry you are in the wrong place. If you’re looking for honesty, every day humor, and someone who is just doing their best and learning as they go I’m your girl!!
Nice meeting you!! Hope to see you again soon!

Love the smoke alarm comment:) My kids have a song they sing about me in the kitchen… they sing it when the alarm goes off. My husband taught them:)
Looking forward to seeing into your world…. wished we were still neighbors!! And I’d love any rabbit pointers… i have a little girl wanting to start raising rabbits:)
Rabbits are wonderful!! I so wish we lived closer I would love to help her!!
That’s too funny that they have a song, I’m not telling Scott that or he’ll get ideas!!
Awesome. Look forward to reading your blog
Way to be yourself and not try to squeeze into the “normal” box! All the critters gives me a sneak peek into what it will be like with my boys in a couple years! Yikes!
PS- I’m in your SITs tribe 🙂
