FAQ & Tips –

What to serve with this dip-

This dip is great with so many things some of our favorites are tortilla chips, pita chips, corn chips, pretzels, or veggie sticks like carrots, celery, peppers etc.

What kind of sausage should I use?

You can use any bulk ground sausage for this recipe. The browned sausage needs to be crumbly so no sausage links. Spicy sausage, or spicy Italian sausage work well if you want a little kick and more spice to your dip. Mild sausage, or regular breakfast sausage are a great option for a less spicy dip. I’m personally not a fan of too much spice so I usually go with breakfast sausage.

What is Rotel?

Rotel tomatoes are well known for their distinct flavor, and are what makes this dip special! They are a blend of diced tomatoes, green chilies and spices that is well balanced and easy to use. There are several other brands that make diced tomatoes with chilies that will work well in this recipe.

Can I make this on the stove top?

Yes! I like to use a slow cooker for this so it is set it and forget it but if you don’t have a crockpot you can make this on the stove top. To make it this way, use a large skillet and brown your ground beef and sausage. Then add in your cream cheese, Velveeta and tomatoes, heat over medium heat until the cheeses are melted and smooth. Serve immediately or keep on low heat stirring occasionally until ready to serve.
