Make sure you can find this later now!!
Remember last week when I talked about the treasure that is my Grandma’s recipe box?
Well today my friends I am here to delight you with a simple, delicious cookie recipe that is out of that very box.
Don’t let the plain look of these cookies fool you. They are something special!
They are soft, chewy, sweet .. but not too sweet, and very easy to make! I love them plain but according to grandma’s recipe you can add in chopped nuts, dates, raisins or chocolate chips… so pretty much the possibilities are endless!!
Here’s what you’ll need
1 Cup- Butter softened
2 Cup- Brown sugar (packed)
2 – Eggs
3 1/2 c. Flour
1 tsp. – Salt
1 tsp. – Baking Soda
1/2 Cup- Buttermilk (alternately you can put 1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice in 1/2 cup milk and let it sit for 5 minutes)
2 tsp- Vanilla
Get your oven preheating to 375.
In a mixer cream together butter and brown sugar until nice and fluffy. Add in the vanilla and eggs and mix until they are incorporated. Stir your salt, baking soda and flour together and gradually add it to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk.
Now drop it by spoonfuls ( I like to use a little dough scooper) onto a cookie sheet
Bake for 9-12 minutes or until just slightly browned around the edge.
Now enjoy!! These are perfect with a cup of coffee or mug of hot chocolate!
