This homemade chocolate syrup is so easy to make and absolutely delicious! No cooking required, and free of refined sugar, this chocolate syrup is great for ice cream or chocolate milk!

If you are like me and you have a love for chocolate but a desire to have it in ways that are just a little bit healthier, you’ll love this recipe! You mght want to also check out my healthy no bake cookies, another chocolate treat I’ve made over!

My boys have always loved chocolate milk, my 12 year old still loves to drink a big glass with a straw, and my older two love it after a workout! (My oldest who is lactose intolerant goes for the almond milk!)

I have always looked for homemade and healthier ways to make things, and I am a huge fan of replacing refined sugar with natural sugars like honey or maple syrup.  While you still get the sweetness, honey is better for you than sugar so you can feel better about eating it and giving it to your kids!

Recently my older boys have started concocting specialty coffee drinks for themselves and have loved using this syrup mixed with a little coffee, 1/2 & 1/2 and ice to create a delicious iced coffee drink!

This homemade chocolate syrup is perfect for anything you want to add a little chocolately goodness too. It is perfect on ice cream, in milk, drizzled over a brownie or strawberries… anywhere and everywhere you love chocolate!

It is incredibly easy to make too, just whisk together 5 ingredients and it’s ready to go, no cooking, no fancy gadgets needed, just a handful of ingredients and a quick stir!

Here’s what you’ll need for this chocolate syrup –

1 & 1/2 Cups Honey- preferably a great quality raw honey.

1/2 – Cups Water

3/4- Cup Cocoa Powder

a pinch of salt

1/2- tsp Vanilla

In a large bowl combine your cocoa powder, water, vanilla and salt. Whisk together until well incorporated.

Now add in your honey and continue whisking until it is all mixed in.

Store it in an air tight container, in the fridge. I like to keep mine in a mason jar, but you can always reuse your chocolate syrup bottle!

This is my favorite way to store mine!

Wow, I had never thought of this before! I haven’t purchased any new chocolate syrup because I have yet to find a natural version I like, I’m definitely going to try this out 🙂 Thank you for sharing!

I hope you love it as much as we do! I looked and looked for a healthier one but I don’t think they exist, this is an excellent alternative!

I’ve been wanting to try som homemade chocolate syrup. I use it often for chocolate milk (for myself…it’s amazing after a workout) and don’t like that it’s made with high fructose corn syrup. I’ve been thinking about trying it with maple syrup and cacao powder (this cacao powder I just recently bought tastes amazing much better than any cocoa powder I’ve ever had…so much more chocolate flavor). Maybe I try this sometime.

[…] –Milk– Now a glass is easy to grab out of the fridge but this isn’t one we travel with. A glass of milk is packed with vitamins and minerals and protein. It is a great after workout snack or for something to hold them over when they are sooooooo hungry before a meal. My boys also like Almond and Cashew (the big teenager talked me into buying that) milk which are both even higher in protein. If you want to add a little flavor you can try my all natural sugar-free chocolate syrup!  […]
