Ingredients

  • 1- Loaf of bread
  • 1 1/2 – Cup Milk room temperature
  • 4- Eggs room temperature
  • 4- Tbsp. Butter Melted
  • 2- Tbsp. Sugar
  • 1- tsp. Cinnamon
  • Butter for cooking
  • Optional –
  • Additional Cinnamon Sugar for sprinkling – about 1/4 cup.
  • Maple syrup for dipping

Instructions

  • Cut your bread slices into 4 pieces and spread them on a baking sheet. You can leave it out on the counter overnight or place it in an oven at 300 degrees for about 30 minutes.
  • Next in a large bowl beat your eggs well, add in the milk, melted butter, cinnamon, and sugar.
  • Dip your bread into the egg mixture allowing any excess to drip off.  Sit your dipped bread to the side for about 5 minutes before cooking.
  • If you want extra cinnamon sugar you can add it now, sprinkle it across the top. You can also wait until after they are cooked to add extra cinnamon sugar but it doesn’t stick as well.
  • Heat a small amount of butter in the bottom of a skillet or on a griddle.  Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  • If you’re serving them right away a little side of maple syrup for dipping is delicious!
  • If you want to freeze them line them up on a cooling rack and let them cool completely, then stick them in the freezer. Once they’re frozen you can put them in a zipper freezer bag. To eat just pop them in the microwave for about 1 min ( microwaves vary though so watch the first time!).
