½CupRed Candy Melts
½CupBlue Candy Melts
2CupsRice Chex
6TbspPowdered Sugar
2TbspShortening
½CupRed White & Blue M&M’s
½CupYogurt Covered Raisins
2CupsYogurt Covered Pretzels
Instructions
First we’re going to make the red and blue chocolate covered Chex cereal.
Place the blue candy melts and 1 tablespoon of shortening in a microwave safe bowl or a double boiler. If you’re using the microwave heat in 30 second increments stirring in between, until melted and smooth. If using a double boiler heat over med/high heat and stir frequently until smooth.
While the candy is melting place 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar in a large zip close baggie, and lay out a piece of parchment or wax paper for cooling the cereal.
Once the candy has melted pour in one cup of Rice Chex. Gently stir until the cereal is completely, evenly coated with the candy mixture.
Spoon the cereal into the baggie and gently toss and shake the bag to coat the cereal with powdered sugar. Pour the covered cereal into a sieve and shake to remove excess powdered sugar. Spread the cereal out over your prepare wax paper or parchment to cool.
Repeat the process using the red candy melts, and the second cup of Chex cereal.
Once your Chex are completely cooled it is time to assemble the snack mix.
Place the chocolate covered Chex, yogurt covered pretzels, M&M’s and yogurt covered raisins in a large bowl. Gently stir to evenly distribute & serve!
