Line an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper and butter it or spray with non-stick spray.
I like to place the marshmallows and crispy rice cereal for each layer into separate bowls
For the first yellow layer- Place 2 tablespoons butter, and 2 cups marshmallows in a medium saucepan, cook over medium heat until completely smooth and melted.
Remove from heat and add a few drops of yellow food coloring. I ended up using about 1/4 tsp of yellow gel food coloring. Mix until the marshmallow mixture is evenly colored, adding more color if desired.
Add in 2 cups Rice Krispies cereal and fold until cereal is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
Using a greased spatula or buttered hands press mixture into the bottom of your prepared pan and set aside.
For the orange layer- Melt the next 2 tablespoons butter, and 2 cups marshmallows in a saucepan over medium heat until completely smooth and melted.
Remove from heat and immediately add in ¼ cup candy corn. Stir continuously until candy corn is completely melted. Add in orange food coloring if more orange color is desired.
Add in 2 cups Rice Krispies cereal and fold until cereal is evenly coated.
Press the mixture into the pan on top of the yellow layer.
For the white layer- In a medium size saucepan melt the final 2 tablespoons butter, and 2 cups marshmallows over medium heat until completely smooth and melted
Add in 2 cups Rice Krispies cereal and fold until cereal is evenly coated
Press the white mixture on top of the orange layer.
Immediately, while the white mixture is still soft and slightly warm, firmly press candy corn into the white layer if desired for decoration.
Allow cereal treats to cool completely (about 30-40 minutes) before removing from the baking dish, cutting and serving.
Cut into 9 squares and serve!
Store treats in an airtight container.
