Do you have laminate floors and need an easy way to clean them? My all natural laminate floor cleaner not only works great but is free of any harsh chemicals!
When we moved into our house a couple of years ago I had never lived with laminate flooring. In this house it’s through our hallways and kitchen, and I love it. It gets a ton of traffic though and constantly needs cleaned… dogs, cats, people… it’s the high traffic area in our house so I have to clean it a couple times a day (at least I should!) I’ve tried a lot of things, good old fashioned mopping, disposable floor cloths, and homemade cleaners.
If you’ve ever had laminate you’ll know it streaks pretty easily, and can sometimes get a little dull looking so finding a great cleaner is a must!
For years I’ve been trying to eliminate chemicals and I’ve tried a few homemade cleaners, but this is one is by far the best. It has alcohol in it which helps it dry quickly keeping the floor from getting streaky. Without any foamy agents or soap it doesn’t leave a film, and the essential oil properties help freshen, kill germs, and leave your floor clean!
Oh and did I mention it’s super easy to make, ready to go in just a minute!
A couple of notes to make here- there is dish soap in this recipe so in order for it to be truly natural you’ll need to use a natural chemical free dish soap. You’ll also need a spray bottle. I use this pretty quickly so I just use a plastic one, if you don’t think you’ll use it within a week to 10 days you’ll want to use an amber glass bottle. The dark glass helps he essential oils stay nice and potent. (I have this one and it’s great)
Here’s what you’ll need for your DIY all natural laminate floor cleaner-
1- Cup Distilled Water
3/4- Cup Vinegar
1/2- Cup Rubbing Alcohol
1/2- tsp. Dish Soap
10- Drops each – lavender, orange, tea tree, peppermint
(here are my favorite places to buy Essential Oils)
A spray bottle
As promised this natural laminate floor cleaner comes together super quick and easy! Just pour your water, alcohol, and vinegar into your bottle ( I highly recommend a funnel!)
Once you have your liquids poured in, add in your dish soap and drop in your essential oils.
Now screw on your lid and give it a good shake! You’re ready to go! I like to just spray it directly on the floor and wipe it up using a damp cloth or mop. It dries quickly so it’s perfect for busy weekday cleaning!
This also is a great cleaning solution to use with my super absorbent homemade swiffer cloths!

I have had several laminate floors throughout the years…From Pergo to others…
I was always told to use vinegar as a cleaner..Even just vinegar and water…..
Several carpet and tile stores have recommended it..

If tea tree is harmful to dogs, what s its purpose? Can you use another essential oil that isn’t harmful, we have a little poodle dog that sniffs everything.
Krista says
The tea tree oil has antibacterial and antifungal properties which are great for sanitizing floors. If you want you can just omit completely, it won’t change the cleaning ability!
Krista says
Yes it is! They go together quite nicely!

Vinegar is a great cleaner for laminate. The added alcohol helps it dry quickly and leave no streaks & the essential oils help with extra cleaning power and a nice scent!
