If you are looking for a fun way to play this Independence day whip up a batch of this red white & blue 4th of July slime! Great for kids or for party favors!
We love slime in our house! My middle son was making it way before it became as popular as it is now, but he mostly just whipped up plain batches of slime and played with it until it got kind of gross.
Let’s face it, you drop slime enough times and no one wants to play with it anymore!
Recently my youngest has been on a slime creating kick, but he is far more interested in creating different kinds of slime, adding in sparkles and colors and seeing how creative we can be!
We decided to whip up some patriotic slime that would be perfect for the 4th of July! We love the 4th and our day is usually full of prepping for friends, watching the boat parade at the lake, and getting ready for fireworks. But often the kids get a little bored, they are anxious for the fireworks and don’t like waiting til dark for some serious fun.
This slime is sure to keep them busy, it is super easy to make and they can play all day! You can even put it in individual containers to give out as party favors if you are having a 4th of July party!
We like to use a clear slime base for sparkly slime. There are a bunch of different recipes out there but using clear glue helps the glitter really shine when you are making slime like this one! White glue will work but the glitter doesn’t show as well.
You can find the liquid starch needed for this in the laundry aisle of your favorite grocery store, one bottle will last you through several batches of slime. I also usually invest in the big ol’ bottle of glue so that it will last us for awhile!
Here’s what you’ll need for your own 4th of July Slime
½-Cup Clear Elmer’s Glue
½- Cup Water
½- Cup Liquid Starch
1-Tbsp.Each Red, Blue & Sliver glitter
In a large bowl combine glue and water, mix until well incorporated.
Add in all of your glitter. Stir thoroughly.
Slowly stir pour in your liquid starch stirring as you go. We like to team up for this one, I pour while my kiddo stirs that helps it get incorporated nicely!
Knead and play with the slime to get it to a good consistency. The more you play with it the better it gets. It starts out a little wet and sticky but after a few minutes of stretching and squeezing it it gets nice and putty-like, perfect for playing!
You can store your slime in an air tight container, it keeps well for several days.
Now of course this doesn’t have to be just for the 4th, you can obviously enjoy this sparkly slime any time!!
