Are you looking for a way to explore art in your homeschool? Maybe you have a child who loves art class and wants more! Whatever your reason you are going to love this online art curriculum that is perfect for any age!
This post is sponsored by Atelier Homeschool Art by Arts Attack, all opinions are my own, I have been compensated for my time.
Art has always been something that I love. I even taught children’s art classes for years at a local music and art shop in our town.
I think that art is super important, but I also know that it is something many parents struggle to teach. Some parents don’t feel they are creative enough, others don’t like the mess, or they have trouble getting their child interested.
Often times kids think they don’t like art because they feel like they aren’t good at it or they haven’t found a medium they enjoy working with. Parents might not know where to start, or how to instruct their child , or what kind of projects to do.
That is where finding an art curriculum can be so beneficial. If you find the right one your child’s creativity can flourish, they can enjoy exploring art, and you can know that they are getting an important part of their education.
We’ve explored several art programs over the years, but when we found the Online Art Curriculum by Atelier Homeschool Art by Arts Attack I knew we had found an amazing program.
There are so many reasons to love this program, I want to share a few of my favorite aspects with you, but there is much more than what I’ll mention here, so make sure to check them out for yourself!
Video-Based Online Art Lessons-
I love programs that are online. It makes life so much easier to have lessons right at your fingertips. I love that they can be accessed at any time and from anywhere! These programs are video based which means with each lesson you get an instructional video to follow along with.
The videos are great, they discuss the concepts and ideas for the project, introduce terms and techniques in an easy to understand way, and they walk students through a warm-up activity and the project, showing examples of the finished projects.
Now I don’t know about your kids, but my son loves to learn through videos! He enjoys watching them and retains a ton of information. So these videos are the perfect format for our family! They are informative but not too long, just enough time to talk about the project and then get started!
When art is taught visually it makes it easy for kids to understand, it helps inspire them, and they grasp the concepts easily. These videos are a great way for them to take it all in!
Teaching is Easy!
I love any program that makes my life easier and this most definitely does. These lessons are extremely teacher friendly!
The videos do most of the teaching, and each lesson contains a printable lesson plan and student hand out. You can print them out if you like a printed resource or just read them online. They contain details about the project, examples, inspiration and reference pictures, things like vocabulary words, and what concepts are being taught. It would be very easy to take these lessons and expand on them if your family loves unit studies!
Each level is an entire year’s worth of art lessons, and can be used with a variety of ages so if you have more than one student and they are a couple of years apart you can use the same level with them.
Each level also includes a parent’s manual, an art supply list, lesson summaries, an art print guide, a year-end art print study, a scope and sequence chart and a glossary of terms. It is everything you’ll need to successfully teach art in your homeschool!
A Variety of Art Lessons-
When it comes to art it is important for kids to learn a variety of things. It is good for them to explore different techniques, styles, and mediums. By learning lots of different aspects of art it helps foster an appreciation and helps them find what they love to do.
Famous artists, art history, and important works of art can also be inspiring and help grow your child’s understanding. Creating art inspired by famous artists can be fun and challenging to a young artist.
This art curriculum has all of those covered! Each level explores foundational concepts such as line, texture, color, self-expression and more. There are projects using pastels, paint, drawing, collage, and other techniques that let kids explore and have fun creating quality art projects. The results are works of art that you’ll be happy to display on your walls or refrigerator!
