Looking for an amazing way to enjoy your fresh summer berries? Whip up some of this easy homemade strawberry frozen yogurt (no machine required!)
One of my favorite things about summer is fresh strawberries! We love to go to a local farm and do the pick your own and come home loaded up with fresh delicious summer goodness.
Now my boys can put away strawberries like nobody’s business so when we pick them, or when I snatch up a whole bunch on sale, chances are that they’re going to get eaten pretty quickly.
However, every once in awhile these locusts that I call children don’t eat them up and those times I like to freeze strawberries to use for smoothies, desserts, and recipes like this homemade strawberry frozen yogurt.
Now you can just buy frozen strawberries, especially if strawberries aren’t in season, store-bought frozen berries work just as well in this recipe.
If you’ve never frozen fresh berries the easiest way is to line a baking sheet with parchment paper, chop the stems off of your strawberries, and then spread them out on the baking sheet. Once you’ve got them spread out you can pop the try in the freezer. Let your strawberries freeze for a couple hours or until nice and frozen. After they’re frozen you can bag them up in a large freezer bag and have them ready to create deliciousness like this!
This frozen yogurt is an excellent alternative to ice cream. There is no refined sugar, it is full of healthy ingredients, and it is just as creamy and delicious as ice cream.
Another thing I love about it is that you don’t need an ice cream maker. I’ve often thought of buying one but I know it would only get used a couple of times and then end up in the back of a cabinet. This strawberry frozen yogurt only needs a food processor, which is a super handy kitchen gadget that you probably already have, and use often!
So get your ingredients, get your food processor, and get to gettin’ on this deliciousness.
Here’s what you’ll need for this Strawberry Frozen Yogurt
2- Cups Chopped Frozen Strawberries
1/2- Cup Greek Yogurt
3- Tbsp Honey or Agave
Toss your strawberries into the bowl of a food processor and blend until mostly smooth. Add in your yogurt and honey. Blend until everything is well incorporated.
Depending on how long your food processor takes and how frozen your strawberries were it will either be the perfect consistency or a little too soupy.
If it’s perfect than go ahead and dig in! If it’s a little softer than you’d like just pop it in the freezer for 20-30 minutes or until it freezes up a little more.
If you are making this ahead of time you can spread it in an 8×8 pan to freeze, then take it out of the freezer about 15 minutes before you want to serve it to give it time to soften.
This is a perfect afternoon treat or dessert! All the taste of summer in a frozen yogurt that is good for you!!
