Can you change the world? As parents we CAN by raising our kids to be kind, teaching them to help others, be respectful and spread positivity in the world! This week I’m chatting with Nicole Black from Coffee & Carpool about how and why to be intentional about teaching your kids kindness, how to deal with tween attitudes, getting kids to be kind to their siblings and so much more!
Kindness…
I think it is something that most of us would agree that the world needs more of.
We see the lack of it in bullying at schools, arguments online, people in the grocery store… the list goes on and on. It is something that when it is absent it is very very visible.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. As parents we have the power to change the world, it sounds dramatic, but it’s true. The things we teach our kids, the values we help them learn, and the love we give them they will take and spread to their friends, their classmates, and ultimately their kids and families. It is a ripple effect with profound importance and one that we get to start.
And a great place to start is with kindness. It is one of those things we often don’t think about approaching intentionally with our kids. We know that we want them to be kind but just assume they’ll pick up on it, which hopefully they would.
But like other important life lessons like brushing your teeth, or being responsible with money, or being self sufficient, kindness is something that we can seek to teach, to bring up in conversation, to draw their attention to so that they realize the importance.
Nicole is such a fun person to talk to, and her love of kindness is infectious. Shes’s full of amazing ideas and advice on teaching our kids to be kind human beings.
