I have been ill.

I whined  wrote about it  a couple of days ago.

I’m on the mend, but battling a hellacious amount of snot. Thankfully I made up some of these shower disks before the germs attacked me so I have them on hand to help de-snot-ify myself.

These are easy to make up and work really well. You may have to tweak the strength for yourself. My first batch was a little weak for my taste, so I added more essential oil.

After my shower last night with one of these I felt like a new person. I could actually breathe out of both nostrils for a couple of hours…

It’s the little things in life.

vapor-disks
Here’s what you’ll need
– 1-Cup Baking Soda
– 1/3 Cup Water
–Essential Oil – Eucalyptus, Rosemary, and Lavender
-Muffin Tins & Liners
These are actually quite easy- you can find a lot of variations online but these are simple, with ingredients that are easy to find.
Put your baking soda in a bowl and add water slowly. You want this pretty thick but still kind of liquidy. It is a strange thing. You can kind of scoop it and it sticks together but then it settles and looks like liquid.
Now add 25 drops of each oil.
That may seem like a lot. If you’re wary start with 15 then use one and see what you think. You can add more to the disks once they’ve dried. So even after they’re “finished” you can still adjust them.
Now scoop it into a lined muffin tin. About 1/3 full will make 6 disks. As you scoop them in they will be kind of lumpy, just gently pat them down and they’ll settle nicely.
Let them dry for 12-18 hours.
Like I said at this point if you use one and it isn’t strong enough you can just add a few more drops on each and let them dry.
Keep them in a sealed container, a tupperware or ziplock baggie work just fine. And use as needed
To use them you want to put them in the side of the tub furthest away from the drain, and shower as you normally do. If you’re quick these may last more than one use. I like to stay in until it’s all melted to sniff up the goodness and clear out my snotty sinuses.

Hi Krista – stopping over from our newly-formed SITS tribe! I feel for you – a stuffed head is the worst! I like the idea of using something natural to clear a stuffed head. My kids had bad colds right after Christmas break and I bought a 10-pack of tissues. Three of the packs were infused with Vicks, unbeknownst to me. They smelled up the whole house! I hated to do it, but I threw them away. I couldn’t take the smell. Hope you feel better! Off to follow you on social media 🙂

Hello Krista. I have just gotten over a cold and I would have greatly appreciated having something like this around. I have also began to get more into all natural products and creating products like this myself. I look forward to reading more from your blog. I’m a part of your SITS tribe.

Oh I love the smell of Vicks. Menthol, Eucalyptus, etc. I love it. I can’t wait to try these. I’ve had the worst sinus headache today and I’m trying my best to keep all the yuck from going into a sinus infection. These shower disks my just do the trick!
