Ditch that chemical eye makeup remover! These are super easy, great for your skin & work really well!

These DIY eye makeup remover pads are so simple! They are made with natural ingredients and work really really well! You probably have the supplies in your kitchen right now to make some!

Looking for a simple natural eye makeup remover? Look no furthur! These DIY eye makeup remover pads are so simple, great for your skin and work great!

I am a big slacker when it comes to taking my makeup off at night. I know it’s one of those things you’re supposed to do, and my skin thanks me for it when I do…. but I often slack. However, I recently realized that I am fast approaching 40 (yikes!!). It’s not like I didn’t realize how old I am, it just kind of dawned on me that I am now closer to 40 than I am to 30. Which made me think I really need to be taking care of my skin, especially around my eyes!

One of the best ways to overcome slackerdom is to make life a little bit easier. While you could argue that putting makeup remover on a cotton ball and wiping your eyes isn’t exactly difficult, having ready-made pads is just that much easier.

The other awesome plus of these is that they are free of any yucky chemicals, moisturizing, and super cheap.  You can personalize it with any essential oils you’d like. I used frankincense because it is great for your skin!

And they work, remarkably well.

DIY Eye makeup remover pads

This “recipe” makes a cup worth of solution, if you have a bigger jar you can easily double it.

Here’s what you’ll need for these DIY eye makeup remover pads-

1 Tbsp- Coconut Oil (unrefined organic is best)

1 Tbsp Gentle Soap  (I used hand soap from The Honest Company, baby soap or your favorite face wash work well too)

6- Drops frankincense oil (Here’s my favorite resources for affordable essential oils)

1- Cup Distilled Water.

Cotton Rounds

An air tight container

The first thing you want to do is heat your water til it’s nice and warm, it doesn’t have to be super hot, just warm enough to melt the coconut oil.

Once it’s heated add in your coconut oil and soap, stir gently until the coconut oil is melted. Drop in your frankincense oil.

Now pile your cotton rounds in your jar or other container. Til it’s about half way full. Pour half or your water mixture over them slowly letting it sink in as you pour. Now add in more to fill the jar they’ll squish down a little when you add the water mixture so add in a few extra. Pour the rest of your mixture in soaking the rest of the rounds. You don’t have to use all the water mixture. You don’t want a lot of the solution pooling at the bottom,  you don’t want them soaking wet, just nice and moist. ( I totally hate the word moist but couldn’t think of a better one to use here!)

Now you’re done! To use these DIY eye makeup remover pads them just take one out of the jar and wipe it across your eye, it will remove any makeup and leave the skin around your eyes nicely moisturized and clean!

Are you a slacker when it comes to taking makeup off? What helps you?
