I have a confession to make.
I hate scrubbing the bath tub…
That’s not really the confession, it’s just the excuse I use to let it get kind of grody before I scrub it.
With five people (four of them male) using one bath tub it happens pretty quickly… and I let it go… until it just has to be done.
Then I end up having to scrub harder than I probably would have if I’d have maintained it a little better.
My go to has always been Magic Erasers. I’m not sure what is in those little white sponges but it cuts through bathtub grime so well and pretty easily.
However, they tend to fall apart, only last for one use, and sometimes I run out… because I’m not thinking about scrubbing the tub because I’m too busy putting it off…
So the other day when I needed to get to scrubbing and was Magic Eraser-less I concocted this.
And I love it.
It is… dare I say… more effective than the Magic Eraser. It also smells wonderful, and makes the scrubbing of the tub so much less miserable.
You can also use it on any other surface that needs a good scouring, I went on and scrubbed the whole bathroom!
It is super easy to mix up, totally natural and non-toxic and effective… It will be a staple in my cleaning cabinet now!
Here’s what you’ll need-
A qt. size Mason Jar & Lid
1 & 1/2 Cup Baking Soda
1 & 1/2 Cup Salt
20 Drops Each- Lime, Lemon, and Orange Essential Oils
(For a list of my favorite places to buy affordable oils head here)
Like I said this is super easy. Just pour your baking soda, and salt in your Mason Jar. Give it a shake or stir. Now drop in your essential oils ,put on the lid and shake vigorously.
That’s it!
To use it wet your surface first, then sprinkle it around generously. Scrub with a sponge or rag then rinse.
Enjoy your cleaning just a little bit more!

I do have lemon essential oil and one called “Citrus Fresh” but no lime or orange. I’ll have to put those on the list. I love bathtub cleaning tips.

I love DIY cleaners, not only for the environmental benefits but because I’m hyper sensitive to smells, as well. Your cleaner sounds wonderful and I thought that I would share one with you, as well.
I’m not 100% certain, but I believe that we got this one from Hometalk. You take a grapefruit (or an orange) and cut it in half, pour salt (approximately 1/4 cup) on the fruit and use it to scrub. Works very good, although the orange leaves a bit of a sticky residue and needs to be rinsed.
I bet if you used a grapefruit with your citrus powder the results would be AMAZING!

That is a really great idea! I’ll have to try it the next time!
