Has your family been fighting germs this year? These cough, cold & flu bath salts are a great way to soothe the sick and feel better!
Is it just me or do there seem to be way more germs going around this year? It seems like everyone I know has had either a cold or the flu hit their family sometime this winter!
Right before Christmas the flu hit my middle son’s swim team big time and unfortunately didn’t skip over him! It made for a pretty quite Christmas filled with lots of tissues and cough drops.
While elderberry syrup is my go to for boosting immunity and fighting sickies that invade my house I am also a big fan of thieves oil and other essential oils for helping soothe the symptoms of flu and colds.
You can find my recipe for thieves oil and a little more about it here.
One thing that always helps make you feel better when you’re sick is a nice warm bath, the warm water relaxes achey bones and by adding some awesome essential oils it can soothe a cough and help you feel better!
You can make these cough, cold & flu bath salts up and keep them in an air tight container to have on hand anytime someone in your family is feeling under the weather.
Thieves oil is a special blend of oils that can be purchased from most oil companies. You can make your own from individual oils or order your favorite company’s blend. (You can find my favorite places to order affordable quality oils here) I love Eden’s Garden’s blends and their “Fighting Five” is what I’ve used for these bath salts, but you can use your preferred plan.
Here’s what you’ll need to make Cough, Cold & Flu Bath Salts
4- Cups Epsom Salts
2- Tbsp Almond Oil (alternately you can use coconut oil, or even olive oil)
Lavender, Eucalyptus, and Fighting Five essential oils.
These bath salts are super easy to make!
The first thing you want to do is mix your essential oils in with you almond oil. I include this step just because it dilutes the oils so you don’t risk them irritating your skin. If you don’t have almond you can use coconut oil or even oilve oil. Measure out your oil and then drip in 20 drops each of your Fighting Five, eucalyptus and lavender.
Now pour your Epsom salts into a large bowl and stir in your oils a little at a time.
Now transfer them into an air tight container until you are ready to use them.
When you want to use them just add a cup to your bath of warm water and soak for at least 20 minutes to get all the great benefits!
So the next time germs strike your home soak away the misery of being sick with these cough, cold & flu bath salts!
