Are you looking for the perfect dessert for all your summer parties? These apple pie a la mode dessert shooters are super easy to make, can be made ahead, and are delicious! The delicious combination of apple pie, vanilla ice cream and Reddi-wip® is sure to please your friends and family!
Every year we host a 4th of July gathering at our lake cabin, our friends come out for an evening of delicious food, fun company, and of course fireworks!
Our friends always bring their favorite dishes, and we make burgers, hot dogs, and of course dessert!
Here’s the thing though, it’s really easy when you entertain to end up stuck in the kitchen, or serving everyone else and not getting the chance to really enjoy your company.
So over the years I’ve looked for easy to make desserts, that I can make ahead of time, and that make great individual portions. I try to think beyond a cupcake or cookie, and come up with things that are delicious and creative!
Well, nothing says celebrating America like apple pie, topped with ice cream of course! Instead of dealing with whole pies and having to cut them and scoop ice cream, these dessert shooters make them easy to grab and serve!
To make it even easier these start with a dutch apple Marie Callender’s® Pie. You can just pop the pie full of homemade, wholesome, real ingredients into the oven and you’re ready to assemble your shooters!
These are made extra special with a tasty and fun garnish, that uses premade pie crust as a shortcut to make creating these desserts easy!
What’s great is that you can find everything you need in your local Walmart while you’re picking up the rest of your groceries and party supplies!
Here’s what you’ll need (this makes 6-8 dessert shooters) –
1- Dutch Apple Marie Callender’s® Pie- baked according to the package instructions
-Vanilla ice cream
– Refrigerated pie crust
-1- Tbsp. Sugar
– 1 tsp- Cinnamon
The first thing you want to do is to make your garnish. Preheat your oven to 350. Lay your pie crust on a baking sheet lined with parchment or foil and lightly brush it with water. In small bowl combine your cinnamon and sugar, sprinkle it evenly over the pie crust.
Now using a pizza cutter slice the pie crust into about 20 pieces. Gently twist them to create a spiral effect.
Now pop it in the oven for about 10 minutes, or until the spirals are a nice golden brown!
Set them aside to cool while you assemble your shooters.
In the bottom of your glasses put a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Next top it with a scoop of your pie. You can mush the pie up as you go and get the crust and everything. Top the pie layer with another scoop of ice cream, then more pie.
If you are making these ahead of time you can wrap the tops with foil or plastic wrap and stick them in the freezer until you’re ready to serve.
When you’re ready to serve them up to your guests stick in a few of the pie crust garnishes and finish them off with a swirl of Reddi–wip®!!
