101 Screen Free Summer Activities for Kids

Summer is upon us with wide open days ready to be filled with fun and sunshine! Want to make sure your kids have a ton of fun? Take a look at these screen free summer activities sure to keep them busy and having a blast all summer!

Even though my kids are homeschooled and I’m used to having them home every day. Summer can be an adjustment. The hours in our day that are usually dedicated to schooling are suddenly free! While I’m not a mom who is super strict about screen time limits I still want them to tear themselves away from video games and YouTube to have some “real life” fun! These screen free summer activities are simple, fun things, a lot of which are free! The idea is to get their creative juices flowing, brains firing, and bodies active all summer long!

Here are 101 screen free summer activities for your kids!!

1- Read comic books

2- Finger painting

3- Draw with colored pencils or markers

4- Blow Bubbles (Here’s a great recipe for bouncing bubbles)

5- Play in the sprinkler

6- Make sidewalk paint

7- Play with Play Doh (Here’s a recipe we love!)

8-  Have a squirt gun battle

9- Have a Nerf gun battle or set up targets

10- Print out and solve mazes (or get a book full of them)

11- Go Backyard Bowling

12- Read magazines (consider getting a new subscription!)

13- Print and do connect the dots (or get a book of them!)

14- Have a water balloon battle, or play catch with water balloons

15- Make water bombs with sponges and have a battle

16- Go swimming!

17- Set up a slip n’ slide (a tarp works well too!)

18- Have a board game day

19- Play card games – teach your kids war, rummy or another favorite

20- Play Legos! Dump them out for hours of fun!

21- Get a big box & use your imagination!

22- Make No-Bake Cookies 

23- Set up a lemonade stand (it can even be educational)

24- Set up an obstacle course, indoors or outdoors

25- Take the dog for a walk (or volunteer at your local shelter)

26-Head to the park & play!

28- Make Sno Cones (you can chop ice in the blender and make syrup from Kool-aid)

29- Go for a hike

38- Go bowling (some lanes offer free bowling during the summer)

39- Catch lightening bugs (or fireflies if that’s what you call them)

41- Go to the Library

42-  Tie Dye Shirts

45 – Salt Painting 

46- Freeze toys in a big block of ice and use a squirt gun to rescue them

47- Use squirt guns to paint

48- Make bouncy balls

52- Play hopscotch (outside with chalk or inside with masking tape)

53- Make paper airplanes

54- Have a dance party
