Have you ever had a fondue night? It is super fun, great for entertaining or for a night in with the family! Fondue can be complicated and even a little intimidating but with a few simple tricks you can make it quick, easy, and something you’ll want to do all the time!
I have a friend who does a fondue night several times a year with her kids, I’ve seen her pictures on Facebook and thought how fun it looks… but I always thought it was a ton of work.
Recently though I thought it would be fun to try one with my boys, but I wanted to look for ways to make it a little easier, quick to get on the table and easy to clean up!
For something like this preparation is key! I’m a huge fan of meal planning and prepping ahead so I knew I could apply it to a fondue night and make it as simple as it is fun!
First things first, you’ll want to plan your menu!
For our night I wanted to do a main cheese fondue and of course a chocolate dessert! I also planned this as a dinner so I wanted something substantial. You can decide what you want to include based on whether it’s a meal or appetizer or snacks! You can plan as many courses and dips as you like! The possibilities are really endless!
Here’s what we included-
Cheese fondue- I used this recipe
Bread- I used a baguette, you want a nice sturdy bread
Chocolate fondue- I used a cup of chocolate chips plus 1 Tbsp of coconut oil You can also use chocolate melts.
Crispy Rice Treats
Now to get prepping! You’ll need a few supplies to make it go quickly!
First thing you’ll need is several food storage containers. To make this super easy I highly recommend Rubbermaid® BRILLIANCE™. I’ve always been a huge fan of Rubbermaid® containers and these are the best I’ve ever had! What makes them perfect for this and any meal prep is that they are crystal clear and super easy to see what is in them, even through the lid! They also have a %100 leak proof guarantee so if you are using them to store sauces, soups, or anything else it’s sure to stay put!
To make this super easy these Rubbermaid® BRILLIANCE™ containers go from the fridge to the table effortlessly. They’re perfect for preparing, storing, and pretty enough to serve in!
You’ll also need a couple of cutting boards, sharp knives, a bread knife and all your ingredients!
Once you’ve got everything gathered you can get going!
You can chop in whatever order works best for you. You’ll want to chop everything into bite size pieces so you can dip and pop them in your mouth! I started with my “dry” items bread, pound cake, and crispy rice treats. The bread got its own container, and I popped the crispy rice treats in with the marshmallows.
Next I moved on to the fruit and veggies. Apples (toss them with a little lemon juice) , strawberries, and broccoli each get their own container. Then it’s time to prep the cheese. You’ll want to shred or cut it into very small cubes.
The popcorn chicken we used was frozen so I stuck it in a container too and it went in the fridge with everything else. That way it warms up quickly when it’s time to eat.
You can get everything chopped and ready to go the day of or even 2 or 3 days in advance. Once you’ve got everything chopped and ready to go you can stack it nicely in your fridge. Another thing I love about the Rubbermaid® BRILLIANCE™ containers is how beautifully they stack!
Now it’s time for fondue!
Here’s the fun part! You’ve got everything prepped and ready to go and it’s time to enjoy some fondue! You’ll need a fondue pot, a double boiler, or a small dip size crock pot. We used a fondue pot for the cheese course and my little dip size crock pot for the chocolate.
You’ll also need some fondue forks or long skewers for dipping!
Follow the instructions to get your cheese sauce going. (Wasn’t that easy with the cheese all ready??) Once your sauce is ready pull out your cheese course dippables!
Pop your chicken into the microwave. Rubbermaid® BRILLIANCE™ has a splatter proof lid with great little microwave vents so you can get your chicken out of the fridge, pop it in the microwave, and serve it up!
Arrange everything around your dip and enjoy!
While you’re eating your cheese course get your chocolate chips and coconut oil melting together to make a simple chocolate sauce.
Once it’s ready you can get all your deserts out and dip away!
Once you’re done you can pop all your Rubbermaid® BRILLIANCE™ containers in the dishwasher to make clean up a breeze!
Wasn’t that super easy?
Now you’re ready to plan your own fondue night and have a great time dipping and enjoying! If you want to get your own set of amazing containers to prep for this and make food storage super easy Rubbermaid® BRILLIANCE™ is available nationwide at Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Amazon and other fine retailers so go pick yourself up a 10 pc BRILLIANCE™ set!
