You know those things you’re supposed to do every day to be healthy and beautiful?
You know, drink 8 glasses of water, exercise, remove your makeup before bed….Sometimes they are just easy to skip. But then later you think (as you look at the big pimple on your chin) I really need to make the effort.
I’m sorry to say I don’t have an answer to making all of them easier… especially the exercise one. I do, however, have an answer to the washing your face before bed one.
I’ve always been one to go in spurts with removing my makeup and washing my face before bed. I’ll get on a roll and then a couple of nights in a row start slacking and then drop my good habit.
Then I discovered facial wipes and how easy they make it and the habit was much easier to hang on to. However, I don’t feel great about using something that is full of chemicals and that just gets thrown away.
So what is a girl to do?? DIY of course!!
These wipes are so simple, so cost effective, and you can make them with the facial cleanser of your choice! I, of course, used my favorite non toxic Ava Anderson cleanser. It is so gentle, and wonderful I highly recommend you give it a try!
I also used a piece of flannel I had from another project. If you don’t want to buy fabric specific for this project yours don’t have to be the exact size I made them. I made mine to fit into a flushable wipe container. You can make them whatever size works for the container you’ll be keeping them in! You could use baby washcloths, upcyle an old flannel shirt… you just want fairly thin, soft material.
Here’s what you’ll need: (makes 10 wipes)
A 14×20 piece of flannel
2-tsp Facial Cleanser
1 – Cup Distilled Water
A container to keep them in (I reused a flushable wipe container)
First cut your fabric into 7 x 5 inch pieces. Now trim around the edges of each piece with your pinking shears. This step is optional, but it will keep the edges from fraying when you wash them.
Now mix together your water and facial cleanser. The distilled water keeps bacteria from forming and helps your wipes stay fresh.
You can use tap water if that is all you have, but you’ll want to keep an eye on them. If they get smelly, or slimy, or the mixture gets cloudy you’ll want to wash your wipes and start fresh.
Now just fold your wipes to fit in your container and pour the solution over them. Stick the lid on and give it a shake to make sure they’re all covered!
To use them, all you have to do is pull one out and wipe your face! Then give it a quick rinse, use your favorite moisturizer, and you’re done! I do wash mine after using them, then once they’re clean just put them back in the solution!
That’s it! Super easy right?? And a simple way to streamline your routine to make taking care of yourself easier, and keep your good habits!
