I don’t particularly like walnuts. My mom will eat them by the handful or put them on her oatmeal… not me. They’re just something I’ll pass on. I don’t dislike them I’m just not a fan.
Unless you toast them.
I had no idea that this even existed until several years ago my sister was visiting and made this dip and suddenly I was a big walnut fan. Toasting them changes their taste and makes it so much richer and nuttier.
I’m calling this a dip. Mostly because my favorite thing to do with it is dip apples, but it’s great on top of yogurt, or thrown on a wrap with some turkey and cheese… it’s some versatile stuff. Also just a spoon is an option, or your fingers… I won’t judge.
Here’s what you’ll need-
1 & 1/2 – Cups Walnuts
1/4- Cup Honey
1/4- tsp Salt
1/2 – tsp Cinnamon
First heat your oven to 375 and spread your walnuts in a single layer on a cookie sheet. Pop them in the oven for about 10 minutes, then give them a stir. Put them in for another 10-15 minutes or until they are nice and brown.
Let them cool a bit then toss them in a food processor. Pulse them until they are coarsely chopped. Now add in your salt, honey and cinnamon. Now process it until it is all well incorporated and finely chopped.
You’re done! Chop up some apples or pears and get to dippin’
