My littlest boy lost his first tooth.
He’s almost 7 1/2 so I was starting to wonder when they would start coming out!
I had this funny little tooth fairy pillow when I was little that had a little pocket where you would put your tooth and the fairy would leave money. Anthony used it when he started loosing teeth and Nathan did for a little while.
And then I have no idea what happened to it?? I remember it getting stuck in a toy box, and it’s one of those things I know I wouldn’t have gotten rid of. But where it went, I haven’t a clue.
So since our tooth fairy is MIA Daniel and I decided we needed a new tooth holder in our house! ( Truth be told the other one was kind of “girly” and I’m not sure he would have been excited about using it anyway)
This is an easy project, fun for the kids to help with, and requires no sewing!
Here’s what you’ll need-
1- Piece of White Felt (the size from the craft store, I think its 8×11)
1- Piece of Ribbon (about 1 ft. long)
Decorations – googly eyes, additional felt, ribbon etc.
First cut your pattern out and lay it on your felt. You should be able to get two teeth out of one piece of felt. I didn’t trace my pattern I just held it in place and cut around it.
Cut out two white felt teeth.
Now lay one tooth down and set your ribbon on it. Depending on how long you want your handle you can make your ribbon longer or shorter. Once you’ve decided how long you want it to be glue the ribbon down.
Now you’re going to use the glue to create the pocket in the top. Decide how wide and deep you want it to be and leave that part un-glued.
Spread glue around the rest of the tooth and press the second tooth on top. I made my pocket pretty shallow because baby teeth are tiny little things and I wanted it to be easy to fish them out. But you want it deep enough to hold money or what ever other goodies the fairy leaves your kiddo!
Once you have the top tooth in place, it’s time to decorate. Daniel went for simplicity with just two eyes and a mouth. But you can really decorate however you want. You can add glitter, additional ribbon, other felt accents etc. Have fun with it!
When you’re all done just leave it flat to dry.
Now it’s just time to wait for those wiggly teeth to fall out!
