I have to say my kids are pretty easy to teach. Most days are pretty easy and we have a lot of fun.
Except when it comes to writing.
They don’t like writing….Like at all…
So to encourage writing I’ve had to get creative.
I’ve found a few little things that make a big difference, dare I say they even seem to enjoy it!
I decided that I would pass along our current favorites in case some of you are struggling with the same thing!
One of the things I love about these is that they are very easy to tailor to your child’s level and ability so if you’re like me and you have multiple grade levels you’re teaching all at once it makes life a little easier, which is always great for a homeschool momma!
#1- Story Time Dice– These little dice are so much fun. When we got them we started out by just rolling them and telling stories. The boys loved it, it wasn’t school work it was a game. So transitioning to writing them down was easy. These dice include heros and villans, tools, and settings and more. So they’re a great way to discuss parts of story too.
#2- Crafty Minds MineCraft Creative Writing Kit– I found this on Pinterest, and I knew that it was going to be an awesome resource. I mean really kids +MineCraft = happiess, even when it comes to creative writing. The great part is that all you have to do is buy it and print it no waiting!
#3 Draw Write NowBooks- Now you already know how much I love art. These books do an awesome job of combining art and writing in a way that is fun and creative. The drawing aspect is great, the instructions are easy to follow and fun… then you add the writing on top of it and you’ve got an excellent resource!
