As many of you know I released my first e-cookbook 2 weeks ago!
I learned so much from the process and I knew as soon as I started, that when I was finished I would share my knowledge with all of you.
I’m not an expert (yet) just a girl who figured it out as I went along and who wants to share with anyone else who may be wondering how to do it, how I did it.
The first thing that you need to decide if you want to write an e-cookbook is what it is going to focus on.
In my opinion e-cookbooks unlike their printed counterparts need to be more focused and a smaller collection. This isn’t “The Joy of Cooking” or one of Martha Stewart’s cookbooks. You want to narrow down your topic.
When I started I knew I was going to focus on recipes based on my “Creamy Greek Yogurt Alfredo Sauce.”
How did I come to that conclusion? It is an amazingly popular recipe on my blog and I had this idea that it could work in so many other recipes.
So my first piece of advice if you are trying to come up with a subject is to look at what you’ve already written, look at what is most popular.
Can you build on that?
Maybe you have great vegetarian recipes, or you have a basic cookie recipe that could be made into 35 variations, maybe you make fantastic salads…
Find a strong point that you can build on and focus there.
Once you’ve narrowed down your subject you want to do some research.
Has it been done before?
The answer is probably yes, there are so many recipes and cookbooks out it’s hard to think of something 100% original.
However, yours still can be. Find a way to set it apart. It can be easy to do, add a new spin, maybe focus in more. Make sure what you are doing is new and as different as you can make it.
Now start brainstorming.
Get your pencil and paper, or computer and get to work.
Make a list of recipes you want to include, how you can categorize them, and maybe even new ones you want to try.
Now take a look at your list.
Once again in the “E” format you are not looking to write a super long cookbook. If you have 100 recipes you might want to narrow it down a little more.
Why not write a huge e-cookbook?
You don’t want it to take up a ton of space on people’s devices, you don’t want to have to high of a price tag. `The e-cookbook market is looking for quick to download, affordable collections of recipes, so that’s what you want to offer.
Now that you have your subject narrowed down, your list of recipes made you’re ready to move on!
Don’t worry I’ll be covering that and anything else you need to know in the rest of this series!
Make sure to follow along via email or social media so that you know as soon as the next 3 parts go live!
