Who loves Mason Jars?? Show of hands (mine is raised)
My husband might make fun of me just a little bit (or a lot!) over my love of these versatile glass jars. I’m sure it will get worse before it gets better, mostly because there are way more projects to be made!
This mason jar makeover is super easy, not to mention super useful.
By using an empty salt container, some pretty paper, and a handy dandy jar, you can store all kinds of things. I’ll be using mine for baking soda, and baking powder, that up until now have been stored in boring old plastic containers.
Here’s what you’ll need for this project-
1- mason jar & lid (regular mouth, not wide)
1- empty salt container with a spout
some pretty paper or paint
a sharp knife or razor blade
Using your knife or razor blade cut the top off of the salt container. Right below the label is where the thicker cardboard ends so that’s the best place to cut.
Lay your top on the table and position your mason jar over it so that the edge of the jar is touching the edge of the circle by the spout. Using a pencil trace the jar.
Now using scissors (or your razor) cut out your circle.
Trace the mason jar again on your paper, or if you’re using paint you can paint the cardboard.
Now lay your paper circle on your cardboard circle, trace the outline of the bottom and sides of the spout.
You want the hole to have a flat top, not curved like the spout is, so just finish off the rectangle. Then cut it out.
With the spout up, slide your paper circle over the cardboard one.
You could glue it if you want, I didn’t because I figure I may want to change it one day. The ring of the mason jar lid will keep it in place just fine.
Now pop it into the ring and screw it on your jar.
Easy right? Now go fill it with something!
Want to fill your mason jar with a liquid?? I have a lid for that too!
